Orientation 2.0

Fall 2017

Orientation 2.0 is a way for both our incoming freshmen and transfer students can learn more about the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. From student organizations like Collegiate 4-H to study abroad trips, our students get immersed in opportunities. On average, we expect about a 250 person crowd. 

04/12/17

The Undergraduate Research Initiative is a year round program where our office funds students and their research. The Research Symposium is held at the end of this program where both CAES funded and non-funded students compete with their projects in either oral or poster presentations. Approximately 60 students competed in this year's competition.

The CAES Student Awards and Leadership Banquet is to recognize outstanding undergraduate achievement. Approximately 300 were in attendance.

The Classic Center

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Spring 2017 Convocation was held in The Classic Center's theater. This event is to recognize candidates for graduation. Approximately 1,000 were in attendance. 

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences funds entrepreneurial ideas in a pitch contest related to food, agricultural technology, agribusinesses, and sustainable businesses. Last year was the inaugural competition with a total of 7 teams that competed, we are projecting to have 10 total teams this year.

Assisted in greeting alumni and families, registration for guests, answering questions, and helping our organizations set-up their booths.

Harvest Celebration

Georgia Agribusiness Council

My responsibilities for this event was selling tickets for our auction items and to also assist guests with any questions/concerns they had. I also won the prize for the most auction books sold. 

Major Madness

A fun, carnival-like event that is held to represent our science majors to students who may not consider CAES as an option. The event was laid-out like a booth fair. I assisted with the flow of our guests, and addressing questions they may have regarding some of our majors. 

CAES Study Abroad Fair

Assisted with setting up booths and assisting guests with finding the right study abroad program for them. Approximately 100 were in attendance. 

Sunbelt Ag Expo

October 18-20, 2016

At the Sunbelt Ag Expo, I assisted with the overall operations of our University of Georgia building by resetting games, setting up our prize tables, and assisting with packing all of our items up after the event. 

Women in Agriculture Leadership Conference

Welcome Back Kickoff

CAES Alumni Association

Assisted with setting up tables according to diagram, helping alumni with various tasks, setting up registration, and assisting clubs with their booth materials. Once event started, I was responsible for making sure our guests had registered and had on a name tag. 

Southeast ShowCAES: Recruitment

Statesboro, GA

Assisted in getting guests registered and setting up our booth regarding the Athens campus. Approximately 40 potential students were in attendance. 

Georgia State Fair

Perry, GA

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has a booth every year in the Georgia Grown building at the Georgia State Fair. I was able to help set up for this event and also address questions for people stopping by. 

Multiple Events

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences sets up a booth to recruit students to our college during the booth fair at the First Look Events, located in Tate Student Center. I have set up the booth at these events about 15 times and have also created ways to capture interested students through a Qualtrics survey.

South by South Milledge (SxSM)

UGArden

Similar to the Fall Harvest Festival, SxSM is the major spring event at UGArden that helps bring awareness and fund raise for the farm. For this event, my main task was helping with registration on the day of the event, scheduling catering donations, and assisting with the overall operations. I've helped manage a successful SxSM 3 years now with approximately 300 people in attendance.

Event Committee Chair

Coordinated whole event from start to finish. The event had delegations from the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Florida. This year's event was held at Fortson 4-H Center and was all about connecting collegiate 4-H chapters statewide and nationally. There were 23 people in attendance.

Weekend in the Classic City is hosted by Collegiate 4-H'ers across Georgia for high school 4-H members to learn more about college life. Workshops for students are presented to prepare for college life, networking, managing finances, choosing a major, choosing a college that is right for them and more. Students also interact with collegiate 4-H'ers from over 14 colleges and universities from across Georgia.

Delta Sigma Pi, Pi Chaper

Building Opportunities for Leadership & Development (BOLD) is a unique round table networking event that is conveniently before Terry's Career Fair in order for students to interact with potential employers even before going to the career fair. This event happens every Fall semester and I have had the pleasure to assist with the planning process all 4 years of its existence. 

Fall Harvest Festival

UGArden

The Fall Harvest Festival is the major event at UGArden that helps bring awareness and fund raise for the farm. For this event, my main task was helping with registration on the day of the event, scheduling catering donations, and assisting with the overall operations. I've helped manage a successful Harvest Festival 3 years now with approximately 350 people in attendance. 

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences funds entrepreneurial ideas in a pitch contest related to food, agricultural technology, agribusinesses, and sustainable businesses. Last year was the inaugural competition with a total of 7 teams that competed, we are projecting to have 10 total teams this year.

100th Birthday Field Party

Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at University of Georgia turned 100 years old in 2015 and was celebrated with several events, including our venue, Historic Smithonia Farm. At the event, Epting Events catered, we had two live bands (one indoor and out) and also Hairy Dawg made an appearance. Approximately 300 guests visited our venue.

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center

The Mint Jubilee is a Kentucky Derby Day event benefit Women’s and Children’s Services at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. The event was held at Historic Smithonia Farm on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 4:30p.m. My responsibility was helping to promote the event as well as making the diagrams for the floor plan. 

2016 Monroe Deutante Ball

The Monroe Debutante Ball included catering, a ceremony, and fun reception time. Approximately 220 were in attendance with beautiful evening gowns. My responsibility was to assist in creating the floor plan and being there day-of to assist with guest needs.

Georgia Press Advisory Meeting

Every year, this annual meeting takes place in our Smith (event) barn. My responsibility is to assist with creating floor plans and helping our clients out on the day of the event. 

Leadership Georgia Luncheon

04/19/15

The Leadership Georgia Luncheon was hosted at our venue. We were able to tour our guests around the property to share its history. I helped coordinate these tours and also helped plan the flow of the event.
